Why I Chose Austin as a Creative Home

Every artist eventually develops a relationship with place.

Some people find inspiration through travel. Others feel deeply connected to a specific city, landscape, or community. While creativity can happen almost anywhere, certain places provide an environment that supports artistic growth in unique ways.

For me, Austin became one of those places.

Over the years, I have spent time in countless cities through photography, music, travel, and creative work. Each place offered something valuable. Some inspired through their history. Others through their energy, architecture, culture, or artistic communities.

Yet Austin always felt different.

There was something about the city's creative spirit, independence, and openness that resonated with me. It was a place where artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, designers, photographers, filmmakers, and creative thinkers were actively building things and pursuing ideas that mattered to them.

Before painting became my primary focus, I spent years photographing musicians, festivals, concerts, and life on the road. Through that work, I experienced creative communities across the country and throughout Europe.
