Private Studio Appointments
Some paintings need to be experienced in person.
I've believed that for a long time.
Photographs can introduce a painting.
They can never completely replace standing in front of it.
If you'd like to explore the paintings currently available from my studio, I invite you to begin with The Work. Every painting changes as you move through the room. Texture becomes more pronounced. Light reveals details that a camera simply can't capture. Scale begins to make sense in a way it never quite can on a screen.
That's one of the reasons I enjoy welcoming collectors into the studio.
A studio isn't a showroom.
It's where unfinished ideas become finished paintings.
It's where questions are asked, paintings are reconsidered, surfaces evolve, and every finished canvas slowly becomes what it was meant to be. Spending time in that environment offers a different perspective on the work because you're experiencing it where it was created rather than where it's eventually displayed.
I've never wanted studio visits to feel formal.
They're simply an opportunity to slow down, spend time with the paintings, and have an honest conversation about the work.
Whether you're looking for a painting that's already complete or simply curious about how the work comes into existence, I believe experiencing the paintings in person offers something that photographs alone never can.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Every appointment is private.
There are no crowds.
No scheduled tours.
No pressure to make a decision.
Just enough time to experience the paintings at your own pace, ask questions, and see how the work changes as you move through the studio.
I think that's exactly how collecting original art should begin.
Experiencing the Paintings Where They Begin
Every painting has two lives.
One in the studio.
One in the home.
A studio appointment offers the opportunity to experience the first.
Standing in front of a painting changes everything. The scale becomes real. The texture begins to reveal itself. Light moves across the surface as you move through the room, allowing details to appear and disappear in ways that simply can't be captured in photographs.
That's one of the reasons I encourage collectors to experience the work in person whenever possible.
If you'd like additional guidance while exploring available paintings, Art Consulting and Private Viewings offers a more in-depth conversation about scale, placement, architecture, and how a painting may relate to your home or project.
Every studio visit unfolds a little differently.
Sometimes we spend most of our time talking about a single painting.
Other times we move from canvas to canvas, discussing process, materials, texture, and the unexpected decisions that gradually shaped the finished work.
There isn't an agenda.
Only curiosity.
I've always believed the best conversations happen when no one feels rushed.
A Conversation, Not a Presentation
People occasionally ask if they need to know something about art before visiting the studio.
The answer is always no.
Curiosity is enough.
Whether this is your first original painting or you've spent years building a collection, my role is exactly the same: to answer your questions honestly, share whatever is helpful, and give you the space to experience the work at your own pace.
If, during that conversation, you decide you'd like to collect directly from the studio, Buy Original Art in Austin explains what that experience looks like from the first conversation through bringing a painting into your home.
The goal has never been to impress anyone.
It's simply to share the work honestly.
I think that's enough.
Before Your Visit
Do I need to make a decision during my appointment?
Not at all.
A studio visit isn't about making a purchase.
It's about experiencing the paintings, asking questions, and taking the time to discover whether one of them genuinely belongs in your life. Some collectors know immediately. Others return days, weeks, or even months later.
Both feel exactly right to me.
Can I request additional information after my visit?
Absolutely.
I'm always happy to provide additional photographs, close-up details of the painted surface, installation renderings, or answer any questions that come to mind after you've had time to reflect on the work. Collecting original art isn't a decision that should ever feel rushed.
The Next Step
If you're considering a private studio appointment, you've already taken the first step.
You've become curious.
That's where every meaningful collection begins.
Before reaching out, I'd encourage you to spend a little more time with The Work.
Notice which paintings continue returning to your thoughts.
Then, when you're ready, we'll continue the conversation in the studio.
I'd be delighted to welcome you.
