Buy Directly From the Artist
Every painting leaves my studio exactly once.
I've always liked that thought.
Before a painting finds its home, it lives here with me. I spend days, weeks, and sometimes months responding to it, questioning it, walking away from it, and returning with fresh eyes until it finally becomes itself. Then, one day, it begins a completely different life in someone else's home.
That transition has always felt meaningful to me.
If you're exploring The Work, you're seeing paintings exactly as they leave my studio. There isn't another collection somewhere else. There aren't editions, reproductions, or multiple versions waiting behind the scenes. Every painting exists only once, and every collector begins at the same place: a conversation about the work itself.
Buying directly from an artist offers something that's becoming increasingly uncommon.
Access.
Not exclusive access.
Human access.
You have the opportunity to ask questions, understand how a painting evolved, learn what materials became part of the finished surface, and discover the experiences that quietly shaped the work. I think those conversations create a connection that's difficult to experience any other way.
I've never believed collecting original art should feel transactional.
It should feel personal.
Because in many ways, it is.
When you choose to live with one of my paintings, you're not simply bringing home an object.
You're becoming part of its story.
Why Collect Directly From the Artist
The relationship between an artist and a collector doesn't begin after a painting is purchased.
It begins long before that.
It begins with curiosity.
With questions.
With the willingness to spend time understanding the work before making a decision.
I've always believed those conversations matter just as much as the finished painting itself.
They're where trust begins.
And trust, in my experience, is one of the most valuable things a collector can take home.
A Different Collecting Experience
One of the things I enjoy most about working directly with collectors is that every conversation begins without expectations.
Some people know exactly which painting they're drawn to.
Others simply know they're ready to begin living with original art and want the freedom to explore before making a decision.
Both approaches feel exactly right to me.
A painting should never feel like a transaction.
It should feel like the beginning of a relationship.
When you collect directly from my studio, you have the opportunity to ask questions, request additional photographs, explore close-up details of the painted surface, discuss scale, and better understand how a painting might relate to your home or project. Those conversations aren't about convincing you to acquire a painting.
They're about helping you discover whether it's the right one.
If you'd like additional guidance while considering a painting, Art Consulting and Private Viewings explores how we can thoughtfully evaluate available work together, whether you're selecting a painting for your home, a private collection, or a larger design project.
I've never believed the right painting is always the first one that catches your eye.
Sometimes it's the one that quietly continues returning to your thoughts after you've left the room.
I've learned to trust that process.
I encourage collectors to do the same.
Private Studio Appointments
There's something different about experiencing a painting where it was created.
The scale feels different.
The texture becomes more apparent.
The atmosphere surrounding the work becomes part of the experience itself.
If you're in Austin or planning a visit, Private Studio Appointments offer an opportunity to spend time with the paintings at your own pace, ask questions, and experience the work without interruption.
No schedules to rush through.
No sales pressure.
Just enough time to discover whether a painting feels like it belongs in your life.
Before You Decide
Can I ask questions before making a decision?
Absolutely.
In fact, I encourage it.
Whether you'd like additional photographs, close-up details of the painted surface, installation renderings, or simply want to talk through how a painting might relate to your home, I'm always happy to help. Collecting original art should feel informed, comfortable, and enjoyable from beginning to end.
How do I know when I've found the right painting?
I've learned that the right painting rarely asks for your attention.
It quietly earns it.
If you continue thinking about the same painting after you've left the website, imagining it in your home days later, that's usually worth trusting. The paintings we continue returning to often become the ones we eventually choose to live with.
The Next Step
If you've spent time reading this page, then you already understand why I believe collecting directly from the artist is different.
It isn't about convenience.
It isn't about exclusivity.
It's about connection.
Now I'd encourage you to spend some time with The Work.
Not to find the perfect painting.
Simply to discover which one continues finding its way back into your thoughts.
The right painting has a remarkable way of finding the right home.
When it does...
I hope we'll have the chance to begin that conversation.
