Original Abstract Paintings for Sale
Every painting you'll find in The Work began exactly the same way.
With absolutely no idea what it would eventually become.
I never begin with a sketch, a predetermined composition, or an image I'm trying to recreate. Every painting develops through curiosity, observation, intuition, and countless decisions made in response to what the work asks for next. Some evolve quickly. Others are painted over, scraped back, rebuilt, and rediscovered before they finally reveal themselves.
That's why every painting is original.
Not simply because only one exists.
Because no one, including me, could ever paint it again.
If you're looking for original abstract paintings for sale, I invite you to begin with The Work. Every available painting carries its own history of exploration, revision, and discovery. Each possesses a distinct atmosphere, a unique visual language, and a journey that could only have unfolded one way. My role is simply to stay with the work long enough for it to become itself.
I've spent most of my life paying attention.
Photography taught me to notice moments that disappeared almost as quickly as they arrived.
Painting became another way of paying attention.
Rather than documenting the world around me, I now explore memory, atmosphere, texture, and lived experience through paint. Although the medium has changed, the instinct remains exactly the same.
The surface tells one story.
Living with it reveals another.
Every collector brings a different life to a painting.
That's why no two people ever experience the same work in exactly the same way.
I don't try to define exactly what a painting means because I believe the strongest work leaves room for your own memories, experiences, and interpretation.
When one painting reaches its conclusion...
The next begins with a blank canvas, curiosity, and the willingness to discover something entirely new.
Choosing the Right Painting
Finding the right painting is different from simply finding one you like.
The paintings we choose to live with gradually become part of our daily lives. We pass them on our way to make coffee in the morning. We see them while sharing meals with family and friends. We notice them differently as the seasons change, as afternoon light moves across the surface, and as our own lives continue to evolve.
The strongest paintings don't reveal everything at once.
They continue revealing themselves over time.
That's why I encourage collectors to slow down.
Leave.
Come back tomorrow.
Return next week.
Notice which painting continues finding its way back into your thoughts.
In my experience, that's usually the one worth paying attention to.
Life leaves marks on all of us.
I think paintings should be honest enough to do the same.
Much of my work is created as large-scale abstract paintings because I believe they should influence the experience of a room rather than simply occupy a wall. Scale changes movement, atmosphere, proportion, and the relationship between architecture and art.
The goal isn't to dominate a space.
It's to become part of it.
Buying Directly From the Artist
One of the unexpected rewards of becoming a painter has been meeting the people who eventually choose to live with my work.
Every conversation begins somewhere different.
Some collectors already know which painting has captured their attention.
Others simply know they're ready to begin collecting original art and want to spend time exploring before making a decision.
Both approaches feel exactly right to me.
Finding the right painting has always mattered more to me than selling one.
Collecting original art should never feel rushed.
When you collect directly from my studio, you're beginning a conversation with the person who created the painting. I'm happy to provide additional photographs, close-up details of the painted surface, installation renderings, and answer questions about scale, materials, or how a particular painting might relate to your home. Sometimes those conversations are brief. Sometimes they unfold over weeks or even months.
The timing has never mattered to me.
The right painting always has.
Sometimes the painting you're looking for is already waiting.
Sometimes you discover you're searching for something that doesn't yet exist.
If that's the case, Commission an Abstract Painting explores how we can create an original work specifically for your home. Every commission develops through the same intuitive process that guides all of my paintings, allowing the finished work to remain every bit as authentic as the paintings already hanging in my studio.
One of the things I value most about collecting directly with someone is the conversation that happens before a painting ever leaves the studio.
It allows me to understand the home a painting is entering, the atmosphere you're hoping to create, and what first connected you with my work.
I think those conversations matter.
Not because they change the painting.
But because they begin the relationship.
Long after a painting leaves my studio, I hope it continues revealing something new every time you walk into the room.
To me, that's what collecting original art has always been about.
Not simply acquiring a painting.
Living with one.
What You Can Expect
Every painting I release is unique.
When it finds its home, that journey is complete.
I don't recreate finished paintings, produce editions, or revisit ideas that have already reached their conclusion. Every new canvas begins with the same curiosity, uncertainty, and willingness to discover something I haven't seen before.
Whether you're collecting from across the country or planning to Buy Directly From the Artist here in Austin, I want the experience to feel exactly the way I believe collecting art should feel.
Thoughtful.
Relaxed.
Transparent.
There should never be pressure.
Only honest conversation.
Only thoughtful questions.
Only enough time to know you've made the right decision.
Before You Decide
How do I know when I've found the right painting?
I've learned that the right painting rarely asks for your attention.
It quietly earns it.
If you continue thinking about the same painting after you've left the website, imagining it in your home days later, that's usually worth trusting. The paintings we continue returning to often become the ones we eventually choose to live with.
Can I request additional photographs before making a decision?
Absolutely.
I'm happy to provide additional photographs, close-up details of the painted surface, installation renderings, and answer any questions that help you experience a painting beyond what appears on your screen. Collecting original art is a meaningful decision, and I want you to feel completely comfortable before making it.
Do you create commissioned paintings?
Yes.
I accept a limited number of commissions each year, allowing every painting to receive the time, attention, and curiosity it deserves. If a commission feels like the right direction, we'll simply begin with a conversation and allow the work to unfold from there.
The Next Step
If this page has done what I hoped it would, there's really only one thing left to do.
Spend a little time with The Work.
Not to find the perfect painting.
Simply to discover which one continues finding its way back into your thoughts.
Trust your curiosity.
It's usually wiser than we give it credit for.
If one of the paintings keeps returning to you...
I'd love to hear why.
